The Blessing of Bikes

O Gracious God, creator of the world and all that is, therein: On this day we gather in joy, to celebrate the gift of your whole creation. We thank you, that in giving us, your people, dominion over things on earth, you have also made us fellow workers in your creation.

Grant us the reverence and the grace so to use your resources rightly, that no one may suffer from our abuse of them, and that generations to come may continue to praise you for your gracious bounty.

In particular today, we ask your blessing upon us, and upon these bikes that we choose to use, not only for our leisure and our play, but as responsible and reliable modes of transportation to and from our work and in the errands we run daily.

May our use of them be visible signs of our responsibility and desire to take an active and continuing role in the care of your creation.

Bless us in our traveling. Keep us safe along the way, that we might continuously revel in the beauty of your creation and be faithful stewards in this earthly realm.

All this we ask in your name.
Amen
